Your baby’s 1st birthday party will be a memorable party for mom & dad but your little guy or gal will most likely only remember it through your stories & photos from the big day. Many parents will create a large social event with all their families & friends and some parents will create intimate affairs with only close relatives. What ever you choose make it a special time as this marks the end of the baby years for your little one.You may want to consider throwing a dinner for your baby’s first birthday party. You can go casual with pizza, subs or an outdoor barbeque or formal with a buffet or sit down type dinner. Your budget, guest list and personal style should dictate your party plans. Plan on loads of pictures if you will be too busy assign a trustworthy friend or relative. Baby's love to look at pictures of themselves and will treasure the mememtos of their first birthday.

1st Birthday Invitations:
You will want to send your invites out 2 weeks prior to the birthday party. If ordering online allow 1 week for delivery, so you would want to order 3 weeks prior to the party. If you want custom printed invitations you should order 3-4 weeks prior to your event. Create your own custom invitation using a photo.

1st Birthday Decorations Checklist:

Banners: there are many types, sizes and styles to coordinate with your 1st birthday theme. Yard banners and yard signs are great for announcing the party location!
Crepe paper streamers: choose coordinating solids or many themes have printed crepe streamers to match.
Centerpieces: Coordinating centerpieces are great for your tables. Create one with coordinating balloons or use one from your theme. A new centerpiece choice would be a photograph centerpiece using pictures for their 1st year.
Balloons: All kids and babies love balloons. Mylar balloons are perfect for the big day. You can use latex but they can pose a choking hazard should they pop.
Touches: Create unique decorations that apply to your theme. Use tin buckets or bandannas for your farm theme. Use Einstein puppets as accents for your Einstein theme. Let you imagination run wild!

Keepsakes & Novelties
You may want to consider a keepsake for your babies 1st birthday. There are books and frames available to mark baby's 1st birthday. Many people love to have guests sign a frame or a traditional autograph hound or new blue or pink autograph bear.

Other fun 1st birthday items are bibs, t-shirts, sippy cups, bottle wraps and fun hats. You can find such novel 1st birthday items in our 1st birthday Apparel page.

1st Birthday Party Ideas & 1st Birthday Party Games
If you are going to have children attending your baby’s 1st birthday you will want to plan activities for these little guests. Although your child will most likely not be able to participate in games, older children will be able to play games. One game you may want to consider is pin the hat on the baby. Blow up a picture of your little one, cut out cone shaped party hats attach tape to the back of each hat and let the kids pin the hat on the baby’s head. Use a bandana or towel as a blindfold. If you choose our Barnyard Blast Theme or our Down on the Farm Theme, play animal games. Pin the nose on the pig. The pig in this pattern is easy to replicate on poster board. Use pink construction paper to create pig noses. Play a game of duck, duck, goose with the kids. A sing along would be fun for your child and the other children as well. Sing songs like the farmer in the dell or B-I-N-G-O. Create a game of Hot Potato gear towards your theme. Pass around a farm animal for the farm theme, or a bear for the bear parade and hugs & stitches or a soft baby doll for the cutie pie. Musical chairs is always a hit with the younger kids.

1st Birthday Party Favors
Many people like to give favors out at parties as a reminder of the special day. A great 1st birthday party favor is a picture. Feature a picture in our magnet frames. Use up those extra small wallet prints from their 1st birthday pictures. In our farm and bears collection we feature fridge magnet frames that would be a perfect favor. Give these out at the party or send it with a photo with a thank you note. If you have a small intimate party, use our 1st birthday party photo flip albums and fill them with special birthday party pictures. Use our cupcake with one candle cookie cutter to create yummy cookie favors for your guests to take home.Remember, most importantly is to take loads of pictures and enjoy your little ones.
Other fun 1st birthday favors: bubbles, bubble bath or other bath toys, book, rubber duckies, pinwheels or small stuffed toy.
