Monster Party Ideas

Monster Party Supplies Ideas for a Silly Monster Birthday Party!

Plan to mail your monster party invitations out 2 weeks in advance. A fun idea would be to have your child make them!  Cut out odd shapes and have them create their own silly monsters with crayons, googly eyes, pom poms, feathers or fur and fill the back with all your party info.

Create a party agenda or time line.  If I am having a 2 hour party I make a time line for for each activity to make sure everyone will be entertained and I stay on track!

Create a what I call a centering activity to do while guests arrive. Something easy that the kids can do while you greet guests and talk to their parents.  I usually allow 10-15 minutes for this and to wait out late arrivals! Or if you don't mind chaos let them run wild!!

*Make lunch sack silly monster puppets
*Show a monster themed movie (Monsters vs. Aliens, Monsters Inc. etc.)
*Monster Balloon:  create silly monsters balloons with stick on googly eyes and cut out sticky felt shapes for ears, mouths etc.
*Have the kids dress up as silly monsters (monster party silly glasses, monster party tattoos, create your own giant monster feet with neon poster board with elastic strap or create your own monster ears with headbands and poster board)
*Embellish our Monster Party Masks with glitter and fur!
*Have the kids color in the silly monster party coloring books (also doubles as favor!)
*Cut out sugar cookies (a circle or oval would be best) and have theme create silly cookies!

Plan your Monster Party games
*Toilet Paper Mummy game:  divide kids into teams and have them mummify one team member set a timer.  Best mummy wins!
*Monster Mash Dance game:  create a play list with fun monster themed songs.  Play freeze dance (hysterical if they are still dressed as the silly monsters!).  Everyone dances and suddenly stop the music and everyone must freeze.  Anyone moving is out.  Keep going until 1 is left.
*Eyeball Race:  take ping pong ball (glow in the dark ones are awesome) and draw an eyeball with a marker.  Have kids race individually or in teams with eyeball on the spoon.
*Monster Party Can Toss:  set up the cans and kid's try to knock them down
*Eyeball Drop:  use your ping pong eyeballs and have the kids try to drop or toss into a can.
*Glow in the Dark Hide & Seek:  give the kids glow stick or necklaces make it dark and have a spirited game of hide and seek.  A personal favorite game played in my basement weekly!
*Pin the Eye on the Monster:  create a silly monster on a poster board and get self stick googly eyes .  Blindfold kids and have them try to pin the eyeball!
*Use your giant monster feet and your monster party play list for a version of musical chairs where the kids move from foot to foot.  Stop the music and guest no on a foot is out!  Keep going until one remains.
*Using your monster play list and our silly monster beach ball play hot potato!
*Using your silly monster beach balls have the kids keep them airborne while standing on their giant monster foot.  Your ball drops and you are out!
*Find the spider game:  put a red gem or dot on a plastic black spider's belly creating a black widow spider.  Hide a bunch of black spiders plus the one with red belly.  Guest who finds the black widow wins a prize!
*Zombie game:  have kids lay down like zombies and the birthday party boy or girl tries to make them laugh.  Last one not laughing wins!
*Silly Monster Pinata

Silly Monster Party Decorations
*Set up your table with monster party paper products (plates, napkins, cups, table cover).  Money saving tip:  mix in solid tableware!
*Use your monster party centerpiece or balloons for your table scape.
*Create monster lollipop centerpieces using lollipops, florist foam in a bucket and fur!
*Border your main party room with monster birthday party flags (they span 12 feet and are easily cut to use in more than one spot.  Another great way to use them is to block off rooms that are off limits!!
*Hang your monster party dangle decorations from doorways or light fixtures.
*Make extra monster feet for your floor or entry way leading into your party zone!
*Use your monster party cake toppers for your party cake!  Create monster cupcakes with our monster bendables and decorate our cupcake stand (fun trims might be fur, googly eyes or marabou) and make monster cupcakes!  Stands are easily spray painted!

Silly Monster Party Food Ideas
*Green Jell-o with gummy worms
*Buckeyes with eyeball at top
*Green rice krispie decorated as monsters with frosting
*Eyeball Cookies

Silly Monster Party Favor Ideas:  I like favors that do double duty as decor or as activity

*Monster Party Blowouts
*Monster Party Coloring Books doubles as centering activity!
